JSJ Seafood are based in Tasmania with two export premises servicing our loyal fishing fleet. Our logistics network includes modern fleet of trucks and charter flights to access international hubs for onward connections across Asia.

We are fishers and traders, we live and breath the seafood industry and our Tasmanian communities.

2016

Jim, Stu and Jezza (Barry), all with a mutual dedication to the Tasmanian fishing industry, decided to come together to form a company. The industry was changing and they were driven by the need to create a business that looked after their long term friends in the crayfishing industry.

A bottle (or two) of whisky later, and JSJ Seafood was born.

With over 80 years of combined experience in the industry, each founder being a well-known member of the community, the foundations for JSJ were strong. Its success, however, can be attributed to their focus on supporting their fisherman and pursuit of quality.

2018

While word of mouth connected JSJ to the best fishers and suppliers in Tasmania, the addition of Nathan Maxwell-McGinn as shareholder in 2018 brought growth through networking, marketing and innovation that’s expanded the JSJ name to global markets.

Slowly growing from a 250-tonne business in Tasmania to an international trading company supplying diverse product categories worldwide.

2023

In 2023 JSJ launched Three Capes Marketing which has over 800mt of product under management connecting global suppliers to clients in Asia.

For JSJ, with growth has come stability – we are now the largest Tasmanian owned seafood company. After nearly ten years, we’ve evolved to producing a year-round supply of our primary species, Southern Rock Lobster, and set a new bar with our collaborative marketing business, Three Capes, and an ever-evolving product portfolio.

Today

While we recently lost an integral part of our JSJ family, Barry “Jezza” Charles, we continue his work and legacy in the industry he helped shape to what it is today.
